2008 has been a great year even with the doom and gloom around us, we recorded the KissySellout debut Album which saw Steve Osborne producing for 5 weeks. Then Basement Jaxx came in for an Album session with Adam Noble from Air Studios to do the engineering. Steve Osborne was back later in 08 with new female artist Fanny Risberg tracking Clive Deemer on drums.

Then to top it off we did the VO work for the announcement of the new Doctor Who, on behalf of the BBC.

2009 looks very exciting with Ocean Colour Scene, The Proclaimers & Roger Tarry all looking to make some noise. And I also want to welcome Charlie Jones to Riverside. Charlie is a top session bass player and producer with some wonderful vintage gear, which, I am pleased to say, he has setup in our newest work room, he plans to record his own project this year.

The low down on Riverside

Riverside was never meant to be commercial recording studio. In fact It was gonna be a production studio for me (seb) to do some film work out of. Anyway, we rolled in lots of nice gear and people seemed interested in using it and so selling studio time seemed a good idea.

The Music business has changed...yup we have all heard about it now but it was changing 15 years ago and budgets for making albums where cut and big studios lost most of their bread and butter work and begun to struggle. Not only that but the technology of a digital age was upon us and big cumbersome Studer tape machines passed aside and made way for A-D converters, Pro-Tools and Logic. Smaller studios , bedrooms, sheds and garages where cheap sounded cool and you could carry a Mac and a Pro-tools rig in...make a hit record...or a bunch of crappie sounding MP3's..how ironic!

Riversides steady flow of work is due to a combination of good recording spaces, the best recording equipment and knowledge, at a price even local bands can afford, plus the surroundings are great and we have accommodation for 6 people and can cater for more.
